It's more money that I like to spend on a pocket knife, but the locking mechanism and ease of opening is worth it.
This is interesting: the-things-we-carry
Just about everyone has an Ipod, a cell phone, and a camera. Almost nobody has a pocket knife, a flashlight, or a can of pepper spray. The photos range from what people have in their pockets to external framed backpacks.
I find it strange the people will carry tiny ipods with huge headphones (or multiple ipods) but not a pocket knife, multi tool, or a flash light. It seems like most these peoples pockets are filled with vanity items, entertainment, or little note books.

I find the "feminine products" part the most interesting - it is preparation for a scheduled emergency. This link points to how our society inappropriately socializes women. I am not expecting spare reloads for rifles, but everyone has chap stick and nobody has a multi-tool with a bottle opener.
This is a topic that I would like to explore in more depth. I think this is related to the "Either/Or... Guns vs Martial Arts" approach to women's self defense that I have been trying to tackle on my blog.
Could you extrapolate on this a bit?

I am sure I will get some hate mail about this one.
Besides, avoiding topics for fear of controversy would be kind of boring.
