These are really handy for putting together things like first aid kit, weapons cleaning kits, and travel organizers.
Another "fighting flashlight":The K2 Porcupine, A Deadly Looking Flashlight
I am not sure I want a striking bezel, I know I don't want a retractable striking bezel. Hitting people with a little flashlight shouldn't be anyones primary self-defense plan. I can't envision a scenario where I am going to get the light out and decide to change the state of the bezel.
For the money I think I would rather have a Fenix or a few more Surefires.
Rustmeister writes on a range of topics and his posts are usually informative, funny, or both. I read him for the gun related posts, but he also writes about cars, motorcycles, and Cthulhu.

My Surefire E2D chews up my pants and its bezels are less aggressive than that K2 appears to be. The retractable bezel is probably an answer to that problem.

It's dark so get out your flashlight. You somebody who looks suspicious so you activate your striking bezel?
It's an answer looking for a question. SOG Knives came out with their 'spring assisted' knives that were really easy to open - so they put a safety switch on them to keep them from opening.
I just don't think that making the bezel pointy is going to make that much more effective as a striking tool, and rather than fiddling with my flashlight I would rather get a real weapon in my hand. If you want a flashlight for hitting people then get a three C cell maglite.
This light is not really designed as a stand alone self defense tool. It seems pretty obvious to me that it is made to be used in conjunction with a handgun. I would never advocate the flashlight as a primary or sole means of self defense. If you carry a handgun, toting a small, powerful flashlight is usually a good idea, too. Why not maximize the potential of the mini flashlight? Those big Maglites make pretty stout clubs but they’re not pocket portable and many municipalities frown on Joe/Jane Citizen carrying a collapsible police baton.
I treat the flashlight as a lighting tool first, an improvised weapon second. Since the mini flashlight does not have enough mass to be an effective club, it is more like a kubotan in concept i.e. it improves the capability of your fist. If you have the time to activate the bezel, great. If not, oh well. The bezel can be useful as a pain compliance tool. It can open up some nasty cuts in the head/face area, which can have a psychological effect, as well.
It just gives you more force options, that’s all. Just another tool in the toolbox. I have other lights without the bezel and I don’t feel like I’ve lost some tremendous capability or anything. My only real complaint is that the bezels tend to destroy your clothes.
I actually had one of those SOG knives for a short while. The first thing I did is remove the safety.
