This is a very reliable way to get a fire quickly. One of these should be part of every survival kit.
Rustmeister has a post up about Guns in Bars He is spot on when he says that there are guns in bars already.
I don't believe that the people who go to bars or restaurants and have a beer, pay their check and leave are the problem. The problem is the people who drink to much and get in fights. If they wanted to be armed with a gun or a knife they would (and do) bring one, or they find an environmental weapon (pool cue, beer bottle, chair) if they didn't plan ahead. The violent drunks will continue to be violent drunks.
For the law abiding private citizen who gets mixed up in a bar fight I would say that he's not doing a bunch of things right, but I don't think he should be prohibited from carrying. The people who are minding their own business should be allowed to equip themselves for their defense against the violent drunks that represent a lethal threat.
Firearms are not the appropriate response for a fist-fight. If you are determined to get involved you need to be able to retain your handgun AND deal with the problem. It would be better to practice some avoidance and let the bouncers or police handle it.
I have seen a number of off duty police officers carrying firearms while drinking in bars and no one assumes that they are one tequila slammer away from an incident.
The point is that firearms don't mix with anything except responsible behavior. If you can't be responsible you should not carry. If you can be responsible then nowhere should be off limits.
Joe writes on gun rights and political issues. He is also the host of Boomershoot. I have had the pleasure of meeting Joe on several occasions (but he doesn't know my secret identity) and you would be hard pressed to find a better patriot or nicer guy.
