It's more money that I like to spend on a pocket knife, but the locking mechanism and ease of opening is worth it.
The author makes the best argument for keeping guns out of the workplace: the rights of business owners to run their businesses as they wish. By extension souldn't that same right extend to choices in hiring and firing employees?
Update:
After bantering back and forth in the comments the short answer is that the Corporate Employment Lawyer wants to protect businesses. He will pay lip-service to protecting employees but that is about as far as that goes. It is clear that he doesn't know anything about private citizens successfully defending themselves with firearms, and has no statistics to back up his gun control agenda.
Oddly I entered this discussion in favor of businesses being able to make these sorts of decisions, but I have come full circle with the realization that you are simply surrendering a fundamental right to reduce the liability of the company in exchange for nothing.
Link Rustmeister writes on a range of topics and his posts are usually informative, funny, or both. I read him for the gun related posts, but he also writes about cars, motorcycles, and Cthulhu.

Mostlygenius, based on the two comments you made in the discussion/debate below, I had no idea you entered this discussion in favor of businesses being able to ban guns in the workplace. You must have come full circle before you starting commenting on my blog. But it's a free country.

Since you were kind enough to link to my post on this subject, I thought you might like to see the full discussion/debate (so far) on this post, including a couple of comments made by Mostlygenius. I had no idea that Mostly entered this discussion in favor of businesses being able to make decisions which would ban guns from the workplace. I think he came full circle before he began commenting on my blog. But it's a free country.
