Reality based self-defense

The author echoes some points that I have made in the past. I think he has narrowed his focus to dealing with gang members too much. I think the 'prison martial arts' is mostly an urban legend. Otherwise this is pretty good advice.

I agree. This guy seems to think that the existence of cell extraction teams is an indicator of the deadly effectiveness of “felon-fu”. The reality is a bit less exotic. It isn’t a testament to the effectiveness of some non-existent fighting system, it’s just common sense. If it was your full time job to be a zoo keeper and you knew ahead of time that you were going to have to subdue a weightlifter with a bad attitude, wouldn’t you bring seven of your friends with riot shields?
