Stupid Gun Inventions: The Pistol Bayonet

Pistol Bayonet

I know that this is kind of old news, but I am adding for completeness. I cannot fathom the purpose of this device. From the manufacturers website:

A LaserLyte original, the Pistol Bayonet is ready for any situation – or just looking cool on your favorite gun.

I can’t think of a situation where I need this, nor one where it would look cool. Some people have made the “weapons retention” argument, but I remain unconvinced. This is about as useful as a fish bicycle.

okay just think about it. The recoil ( if its a larger caliber round) would kick the front of the gun upwards and in turn the knife would slice into its target. The blades sharp edge would have to be facing upwards though

  • Wow, I hope you are just a troll.

  • itstrue

you guys are crazy. a pistol bayonet is an awsome idea and truely something every american should have on at least one of there home protection hand guns. Here is a reason no one can argue with #1 every soldier on the planet when in a combat situation has a atleast one knife on them because having a knife gives you options that you can not have with just a gun. the same goes for if your protecting your home with this tool, you add options and in a bad situation the more options you have the better

  • I wish you would exercise the option to stop trolling here.

  • Nobody

Is this an excuse to bring a gun to a knife fight?

  • Saul Good

Its pretty easy guys. Your supposed to stab the guy, then unload the clip until you can see the laser site on the other side

I'd buy this thing simply BECAUSE it's stupid. It'd be a novelty, and a collectable. They'll be off the market soon, and it'll be one of those weird things you could show your grandkids.

  • Everything old is new again. I've seen pistol bayonets. On flintlocks. Works well if you didn't keep your powder dry. For high-cap striker-fired semi-autos, seems pointless.

  • Kelly

Stylish! Does it come in pink?

  • DAve

Yeah this is like the opposite:

Judging by a video posted by a friend of JayG's, it is very effective if you need to stab Pikachu, or other stuffed animals, while out shooting with your friends. Sometimes, comic effect in a non-combat environment is reason enough to buy something.

  • *Slinks outside to remove the spinning rims from his wheelbarrow* Hauling dirt will never be so cool again.

  • Agreed to as the usefulness, but I too can see why someone might buy one as a novelty / gag.

  • JoeG

You know, I had the exact same thought: I can't think of a situation where I need this.

But the "I like cheesy action movies" guy in me still keeps telling me to buy one for some strange reason. I would like to have one just to get a picture of me holding my G17 with it attached.

On a side note, I had a similar discussion with a friend of mine about putting a bayonet on a Mossberg 590 at one point. He was bound and determined to do it, and I just kept asking "but when exactly would you ever use that?"

  • For whatever the novelty-cool-guy factor is: I wear expensive merino wool socks. I would rather 2 pairs of awesome socks than this item. The socks I will use and probably brag about, a pistol bayonet? That is like adding spinning rims to your wheelbarrow.

  • Pointless? Yeah. But still, stupid in a cool, I'm almost a badass way. Now if we could just get a really useful product like the HomeBoy Nyte Sytes.
