Retention Holsters

From reading the comments about Handgun retention it seems like a lot of people believe that a “retention holster” (of whatever level) does something more than buy you a little time. A thumb snap is not a replacement for retention training.

If we're talking about the "Sherpa" type, push a button to get the weapon out type retention holsters, they're more dangerous than a speed draw rig. There are several noted firearms instructors that will not allow them in their training classes (for good reason), Gabe Suarez among them.

Really poor design; the button is in the correct place, and at the natural angle to virtually guarantee that your finger will be inside the trigger guard on presentation, and in several witnessed cases, this has led to ND's.

Personally I'll stick with the grab, hold, elbow retention method.

"A thumb snap is not a replacement for retention training."

    This statement is Truth.
