PS - The momentary on feature is well done. The button is protected from the side, essentially it's recessed. And it takes good positive pressure to activate it - I don't think there will be an AD with this one.

Here is what I settled on for EDC. A Nitecore PD10 with a pocket clip. Slightly smaller than the Fenix LD10, I like the controls better, and just as bright and with a single AA battery. It does not have the strobe, but it does have a momentary-on option. You can choose to only have only the click-on if that is how you prefer it to be set up. It is more expensive, and the pocket clip will cost another $8, but to me it was worth it to get the features I wanted. The Fenix is a good light, and I have it on my nightstand now, but the Nitecore goes in the pocket.

Sorry for the late response Jeff,

Momentary switches have a habit of "negligent discharging" because of either bumping them or the application of side pressure. On the old 6P you could configure the pressure by adjusting the tightness of the tail-cap, but this never stayed consistent.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. What are the trade offs of "momentary on"?

It doesn't have a momentary switch, but I don't think that is a crucial feature. I was running SureFires for years so it was a bit of re-training for me too, but ultimately the momentary switch has it's own set of trade offs.

I just got my Fenix LD10 in the mail last night. I haven't had time to really go play with it yet, but at first try, it does not seem to have the "momentary on" feature that I consider crucial. It goes on only when fully clicked on and stays that way until clicked off, unless I am missing something in the settings.

I'll have achance to really wring it out tonight or tomorrow.
