Thank you.

The Kubotan is most useful if you are already familiar with striking techniques and small joint manipulation. For a total novice it isn't that much help. The biggest advantages of the Kubotan in my opinion is that it is very simple, it is easy to carry and it is unregulated (to the best of my knowledge). It pretty much falls into the category of “better than nothing”. I'll consider a Kubotan post in the future, but I will probably wait until I can include photos.

As a trained female professional in private security, I enjoyed reading this. The items mentioned here are,for the most part, accurate though they could easily be elaborated on a bit more. When getting a call from a client for scheduling, there are many factors I must take into consideration. Some of theses factors are ,where we are going and when, am I going to be driving a lot or on foot, what are my clients "natural predators" and what "tools" shall I employ for use against them, and our primary and alternate routes, to name a few. Though these factors mentioned are ones I take into consideration for my work, every woman should take them into consideration for herself as well. Where your going and when dictates what your wearing and what you can/should carry. Often times I have to negotiate my choice "tools" because of what Im required to wear ( suit, plain clothes, evening attire,etc...). For instance,I can easily carry my 1911 in a suit, however it's not so easy to do in an evening gown. My advise to the ladies is educate yourselves on a variety of purpose made weapons, take into consideration that not all clothing types accommodate all weapons, and for gods sake stop putting your whole damn arsenal in a make-up crammed purse. Your attacker is not going to stop for you while you try to locate your weapon, so be smart and carry it on your person. Also, training and education take the bluff and false out of confidence. There is no replacement for good education and training. It's a personal investment,so research your options. Thanks Words Twice! I look forward to reading more from you.

Good post. I am not a fan of the kubotan myself, it just doesn't fit into my plans. I can see hitting somebody with my flashlight if I had it in my hand (sort of kubotan like) but I can't see a place for a dedicated device. Maybe you should think about a kubotan post?
