Gun purchase glitch examined.

I would like to see somebody go after these guys. This is yet another example of the police over stepping their authority, ignoring the law, and doing as they see fit. If anyone is able to jump through the legal hoops for buying a firearm then the police have no business denying a purchase. Keeping records beyond the legally allowed limit should be enough to send somebody to jail. An FFL dealer who didn't keep his records in accordance with a statute would be on his way to jail.

Unfortunately 18USC242 only covers deprivation of rights to an "alien, or by reason of [someone's] color, or race". Mrs. Vansickle was discriminated against because of her age and gender which 242 does not cover.

MG: "An FFL dealer who didn't keep his records in accordance with a statute would be on his way to jail."
True, but since the person who denied her rights was in the government, it didn't matter. I, for one am not surprised. Remember the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)? While private businesses where spending megabucks to come into compliance, Uncle Sugar was the very last to do so. Remember, boys and girls, our government isn't above the law, it FRAKKING WELL IS the law.

Show of hands: have you ever met a civil servant who was either?

    Me neither.

Those who can, do. Those who can't go into government . . . so they don't have to.
