Fenix P3D Cree Flashlight

Posted by – October 29, 2008

“This is currently the best small tactical flashlight on the market. It’s light output and features are unmatched. This now my everyday carry light.”

This light has multiple operating modes: a low power utility mode, a high output mode, as well as a strobe. It has a maximum light output of 215 lumen from two 123A batteries. This is about as small as you can get with a tactical flashlight and still have usable ergonomics. The tail cap works a bit differently than the a surefire: it clicks on and constant pressure turns the light off. Tapping the button while it is clicked on toggles different modes.

UPDATE: I have been carrying one of these for about six months and it is still going strong. I like the small form factor but really wish it had a pocket clip. Otherwise I have no complaints.

I went with the Streamlight Microstream for the small flashlight niche. Regular momentary or constant on tailcap operation; I did not have to learn a new operation. Not as bright as the Fenix, which I have heard great things about, but for a mini at less than half the price of the Fenix, I recommend it.
